What is the F&O ban period?
When the open interest of a stock's futures and options together crosses 95 % of its market-wide position limit (MWPL), the exchange puts it in the ban period. During the ban no one can open new F&O positions in it; existing positions can only be reduced. It ends when the open interest falls below 80 % of the limit.
When is the ban list published?
NSE publishes the list for the next trade date in the evening after the close; this page reads it every 30 minutes from 18:00 to 23:00 IST and again at 08:30.
